Because that would have enormous advantages: You don’t age, you don’t have to look at yourself in the mirror, and if someone asks you for a favor, you can just turn into a bat. Okay, such an existence has its downsides, of course – just think of the poor statue down in town that came to life … she now works as a barmaid in the tavern.
